Flextral hose and couplings are engineered to deliver top performance in the most demanding applications. There are three primary factors that influence hydraulic hose life: pressure, temperature, and bend radius. These factors are all brought together in the laboratory with the cyclic impulse test. This is a simulated life cycle test. Under test conditions exceeding the recommended operating environment, the hose assembly is subjected to 1,000,000 impulse cycles.
The equipment used to conduct the impulse test is capable of generating a pressure wave of 10,000 psi and can achieve this pressure in less than 1/5 of a second. The resulting pressure rise rate of nearly 50,000 psi per second is extremely demanding on both equipment and test samples. This benchmark test allows Flextral assemblies to consistently deliver service life that meets or exceeds the OEM requirements.
Steven Hoff joined the Flextral team after 27 years with the Dana Corporation. He holds 10 patents related to fluid couplings and hydraulic hose crimping equipment.
